2012 Committee Request Form
1 - General Committees
Affordable Housing - Encourages members to adopt in letter and spirit the Equal Opportunity in Housing and Employment and the Affirmative Marketing Agreement as adopted by the National Association of REALTORS®. Encourage cooperation with and assist local municipalities in establishing Affordable Housing/Equal Opportunity Committees in their communities.
Chaplain - Responsible for the invocation at Board functions and to provide comfort and support to members and families in times of need.
Commercial Committee - Serves as a supplement to the services of the Greater Nashville Association of REALTORS® in upgrading professional business practices and standards in commercial and investment real estate brokerage through ongoing education and communication. Education - Promotes awareness of solid educational background needed for competence in real estate sales. Provide members with high quality training and education.
Environmental – Promotes education and involvement concerning the impact of environmental issues on real estate.
Habitat for Humanity - Exists to help GNAR demonstrate its commitment to the community and to affordable housing. Raises funds and coordinates volunteer support for building a Habitat for Humanity house in the Greater Nashville area on an annual basis.
Legislative and REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) - Provides the organization, communication, information and education necessary to establish throughout the Association a broad based political awareness. Analyzes issues facing the real estate industry on the local, state and national level; educates members to political awareness; makes the various government agencies and key persons aware of the position of the Association on those issues; and is the Metro Council watchdog for issues affecting real estate thereby establishing the Association as a political force for the betterment of the community. RPAC strives to reach the monetary and participatory goal as established by the National Association of REALTORS® in raising funds for RPAC.
Membership - Encourages membership for those qualified; reviews applications for membership and recommends membership for those who meet requirements to the Board of Directors; promotes the importance of the professional designation of "REALTOR®”; oversees the fair and equal application of the Association’s Membership Policy; contributes input into membership functions, i.e. quarterly membership luncheons and promotes GNAR activities to respective offices.
Public Education - Engages and fosters relationships within the public education field in the Greater Nashville area, including Director of Schools, Boards, partnerships, and by engaging in networking and volunteer opportunities. The committee oversees and manages the GNAR partnership relationship with our partner, H.G. Hill Middle School, and the Project PENCIL organization.
Special Events - The purpose of this committee is to provide event support for both the annual GNAR Charity Golf Tournament and the Middle Tennessee REALTORS® Convention. These events provide networking and relationship building opportunities. It is also to manage these events such that they have financial benefits that can be used to support the charitable activities of GNAR.
Young Professionals Network - Provides assistance to the younger generation of REALTORS® in building a stronger link with the real estate industry. YPN is a member-driven organization that helps young real estate professionals excel their careers by giving the tools and encouragement to become involved in the four core areas: association involvement, the real estate industry, industry peers and the community. Working with REALTOR® Magazine, the GNAR chapter provides networking events, a lively blog, and an informative web site to give its members the tools they need to advance their careers!
2 - Committees For Experienced REALTORS®
Awards of Excellence – Recognizes and awards members who have qualified under the rules of the Award of Excellence Committee, emphasizing outstanding sales achievement.
Court of Arbitration - Arbitrates among REALTORS® of different firms without legal action and avoid undesirable publicity; to act as a policing network.
Grievance - Carries out the initial investigation of complaints by (a) working out a solution between parties, (b) referring the complaint to the Professional Standards Committee, or (c) referring the complaint to the Court of Arbitration.
Professional Standards - Educates members about ethical conduct; follows through on complaints referred to them from the Grievance Committee; has rights and powers to impose disciplinary measures.
